Hello! My name is Lucas Savelli, I’m an Art Director and 3D artist from Argentina. I fell in love with Blender during the pandemic lockdown, and since then I never stopped using it!
When I found the 2D concept art of the great Tooth Wu, I knew I needed to create a 3D version of Dragon Rider. So I accepted the challenge, and after a couple of days of hard work this is the final result.
Great question, Chris! For this piece I wanted to try Vertex paint, and it was AWESOME. I think from now on I will only use vertex paint. About the resolution, for example, the final model of the dragon have aprox. 2million faces
I’m a fellow argentinian too man. That’s why i asked, and also i noticed in one of your posts (can’t remember) that you said you started doing 3D in 2020? is this true?
Awesome, aguante Argentina!!! haha, From which part are you? I’m in Bsas! And I think I started in the middle of the pandemic, 2021 maybe… But On/Off, for example from this piece to my lasted I think 8 months passed without touching a vertice haha.
the thing that made noise in me was that you started 3d in 2021 but you got to be Art Director (acording to your artstation self-claim), you must be a genious! Companies usually ask for years of experience to give those roles (if you walk the traditional path) unless you are friend or family of the owner of the company…
always good to know talented argentinians, they are becoming fewer and fewer every year, while the motherland gets filled with ilegal immigrants that vote whomever gives them a pancho and a coca…
