Chiquita Bonita

Dropped into Chiquita Bonita for breakfast around 9:30am, though they open up at 8. It's a family-run Mexican place in Pasadena, pretty solid spot to grab a meal. Staff's nice and on top of things without making a fuss.

The portions here don't mess around - we ended up packing up leftovers almost every time. I went with the "mom's pozole" and my son got the chorizos and eggs with avocado. Both did the job well, filling without being over the top.

Finding a spot to park wasn't a hassle, plenty of space on the street plus they've got this small lot out back.

Came in on a Sunday afternoon, and this appetizer sampler was great, compared to a lot of the other appetizer samplers Mexican restaurants offer this one is delicious, and great value for the price. The lady waitress was kind and on it. Restaurant is small and if you don't know about it you'll pass right by the parking lot. My parents like coming here after church and it's still as good as when I came with them. Restaurant is bright and colorful.

Nice little hole in the wall type place. They have really good chips and salsa. I always the get chicken enchiladas here and the service is always good and they are very nice here.

It's 1pm on Saturday and I'm super hungry, but can't figure out why. Then it hits me. I've been running around all day between pet errands and kid activities and haven't eaten A THING. I'm definitely feeling like Mexican food and just happen to spot Chiquita Bonita.

The inside space has a few booths and tables, and the kitchen is open so you can watch TV and the cooks prepare your food at the same time. I immediately settle on the #27 plate, and my server tells me that the kitchen will let me order it as 1 carnitas taco and 1 asada taco with rice and beans. Chips and salsa arrive quickly, and while I could easily demolish all of my chips, I wanted to save them because I like to eat my beans with tortilla chips. Food arrives quickly and everything is DELICIOUS. I wasn't expecting the tacos to have guacamole on top, but it's a certainly a welcome addition.

My server is very pretty, bilingual, refilled my iced tea, and checked on me a few times. Be sure to sit in her section. Seriously cannot wait to come back to Chiquita Bonita.

I was in search of authentic Mexican food and this was the spot. This place has beautiful interior decoration all around from the seats to the walls. Staff was very attentive and friendly. They also have their clear regulars which made it feel like a great place to eat.

As soon as you sit down you are given chips and salsa. Without even asking a spicier salsa was brought to our table. I had the green enchiladas and they were very tasty. They are also not shy with their sour cream portions. I was not a huge fan of the beans so that is why I docked a star because they tasted a bit off. Overall this place was great! They also have a lot of parking in the back and is super close to hotels.

I really like the vibe of this restaurant. Small and familiar like a good hole in the wall. We were greeted immediately by a very friendly man and were seated at once.
The restaurant was very busy with quick turn over. Most of the patrons seemed like regulars.
The food was as expected. The portion sizes were large and tasty.

Food and service were terrific. You HAVE TO get the nachos. It's HUGE and loaded with toppings, including a large portion of sour cream and guacamole. Our family of 4 devoured those nachos but were SO full after eating them that we could hardly eat our dinners!! We basically took our entrees ToGo because we couldn't eat anymore. I took off a star bc they were out of horchata and Jamaica drinks and the fountain orange soda tasted weird, almost soapy?? Other than that the food and service were top notch. If we're ever back in Pasadena we will definitely be back. Also, the complimentary chips and salsa are very good too.

From the second I walked in we were greeted, invited to sit down and given fresh salsa with the best tortilla chips of all time! Warm environment, authentic culture ALL OVER THE ENTIRE RESTAURANT! From music to service to flavor! CAN NOT WAIT to go back!

Food was great. Service was fast, even though placed was packed. Small family run place with character.
