‘3 From Hell’ star Sheri Moon Zombie dishes on making gore look glam

Nobody gives a gory film more glamour than Sheri Moon Zombie. The blond dancer/model/actress/muse and wife of rocker-turned-horrormeister Rob Zombie stars in “3 From Hell,” the latest (out Sept. 16) in a series that started with 2003’s “House of 1000 Corpses.”

Even while laughing demonically and covered in blood as Baby Firefly, the 48-year-old looks fetching — a feat she attributes to good genes, a vegan diet and regular exercise.

That, and she loves her director.

“Rob thinks of this film as his masterpiece,” she says of her husband of 17 years, the former Robert Cummings, 54, with whom she lives in Los Angeles and Connecticut. “I’m happy for him and I’ve watched him on his whole journey. I’m like, ‘When did you learn how to write a script? I thought I married a rock star!’ All of a sudden, he’s a writer, a producer and a director!”

In a phone conversation punctuated with giggles, the California native, who was born Sheri Lyn Skurkis, tells The Post about her life as a Zombie, where she draws the line and what really makes her scream.

Baby Firefly waves around a machete in this movie. What else have you done when you play her?
Believe it or not, I had to take lessons to do that! I scream a lot, I get hit with hammers to the throat. I sit on set all night with fake blood all over a white polyester full-length dress. It’s not glamorous, but we make it look glamorous.

Is there anything you won’t do?
I won’t use a prop gun or any kind of real guns in films anymore. I feel that using a gun is a go-to for villainous characters. I know of some gun violence in my family, so I don’t just want to be a party to that. I just don’t feel comfortable holding guns. God, I’m really uncomfortable even talking about it!

How long have you and Rob been together?
We met 26 years ago, through a mutual friend, at one of Rob’s shows. Then he wanted me to dance on tour and be in music videos. We dated for, like, nine years before we got married. I guess we both felt it was the next fun thing to do. We eloped, then we had a big party. We don’t really like to follow the normal rules of society.

What gives you nightmares?
The 6 o’clock news. Politics. Reality! Seriously! We all need a little escape. I just hope people can take two hours and 10 minutes or however long [“3 From Hell”] is and just take that time off and be entertained!

What’s a typical night at the Zombie home like?
We’re living on a farm in Connecticut, and right when it gets dark, we have to close our rescue goats in for safety at night, and muck the barn. We just took in two new rescues, little pygmy goats from Virginia. PETA drives them up and finds them good matches. We’re just a nice place where animals can live a peaceful life. Indoors, we have a dog and three cats.

So, goats, but no kid Zombies?
No. We love being auntie and uncle. We have a few nephews and now we have two nieces, and we like to spoil them. And we consider our indoor pets and outdoor guys our family, too.

Ever do yoga with the goats?
No. I’d rather just go out and give a goat some treats or just sit with them than have them jumping on me while I’m trying to do downward facing dog.
