Beyoncé Rocks Asymmetrical Cut She 'Always Wanted' for CR Fashion Book Shoot

"My mother wouldn’t let me do it," she said of the dramatic hairstyle

Beyoncé is having a bit of fun with a new look that she’s always wanted to try.

In a new interview with CR Fashion Book, the 32-time Grammy winner, 42, stepped out of her comfort zone with some bold and daring styles. 

“I always wanted an asymmetrical cut in the ’90s, but my mother wouldn’t let me do it. So I’m having the time of my life at this shoot,” the Houston native told the magazine. 

To accompany the interview, the outlet shared photos of Beyoncé rocking fashions fans have never seen from the star. 

One image shows the “Crazy in Love” singer with her hair cut in a shaggy mullet.

The songstress, who has been blonde for nearly a decade, switched things up for the silver, gray, and black “asymmetrical cut.”

Other photos from the photoshoot saw the “Diva” hitmaker as a redhead. 

Beyoncé’s creative expression has seemingly gone into overdrive as of late. 

On Feb. 11, the entertainer starred in a Verizon Super Bowl ad, and following the commercial, she let her fans know that Act II of her Renaissance album would be available on March 29.

But the surprises didn’t end there. That same day Beyoncé also released two new songs — “16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold ‘Em” — as she revealed she would be crossing over into the country genre.

Shortly after the news of her musical ventures, the Pink Panther actress shared yet another announcement, a new haircare line. 

“Hair and the deeply personal story it plays in life has always been sacred to me. Haircare is a ritual that feeds the soul and I’m so excited to share it with you,” she said in a social media post on Feb. 21 as she launched her brand Cécred.  

She celebrated the new line with an intimate party at the Revery in Los Angeles.

For the event, attendees wore all white — including Beyoncé and her mother Tina Knowles (who is vice chairwoman of her brand). 

Knowles, 74, was a hair stylist before her oldest daughter rose to international fame. 

In 1999, while a member of the girl group Destiny’s Child, Beyoncé and her bandmates filmed the music video for their single “Bills, Bills, Bills” in a hair salon as a tribute to where they spent time as adolescents.

Speaking to CR Fashion Book about the rollout, the superstar explained the importance of hair in her day-to-day life. 

“Hair is actually the first step when I’m creating tours, films, and albums; being able to see the hairstyles first is what influences the sound, looks… everything.”⁠
