Cameron Diaz and Keanu Reeves may be reuniting on the big screen soon.

Apple Original Films announced Tuesday that Diaz, 51, is in final negotiations to costar with Reeves, 59, and Jonah Hill in the dark comedy Outcome, which Hill is slated to direct.

Outcome would mark Reeves and Diaz's second film together after co-starring in 1996's Feeling Minnesota, a comedy about a pair of lovers who run away together after meeting at Diaz's character's wedding to Reeves' character's brother.

The movie is set to star Reeves as a man named Reef, described as "a damaged Hollywood star who must dive into the dark depths of his past to confront his demons and make amends after he is extorted with a mysterious video clip from his past.”

Hill, 40, plans to direct and star in the movie, which he cowrote with screenwriter Ezra Woods, as multiple outlets reported. The movie will make for Hill's first project since he cowrote and starred in 2023's You People. He made his directorial debut in 2019 with Mid90s and also released a documentary titled Stutz in 2022.

For Diaz, the film will mark a continuation of her return to making movies following a hiatus that began after she portrayed Miss Hannigan in 2014's Annie. After that film, Diaz stepped away from acting to focus on her family with Benji Madden and their daughter Raddix, 4, and start her Avaline wine company.

The My Best Friend's Wedding actress is making her return to acting in an upcoming Netflix action-comedy titled Back in Action, in which she will costar with Jamie Foxx. The pair were seen filming Back in Action in Atlanta as recently as January, with Netflix teasing on Feb. 1 that the film will release in 2024. A source told PEOPLE back in June 2023 that Back in Action's shooting schedule "was intense and pretty grueling," adding at the time that Diaz "was glad when they wrapped."

"Years after giving up life as CIA spies to start a family, Emily and Matt find themselves dragged back into the world of espionage when their cover is blown," reads an official Back in Action logline Netflix shared on Tudum.
