Four Weddings and a Funeral might be considered a classic of the rom-com genre but one of its stars Kristin Scott Thomas has revealed that she originally didn't think it was all that funny.
The actress won the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her role as Fiona in the 1994 classic, which also starred Hugh Grant, Andie MacDowell, Simon Callow and Rowan Atkinson and featured such famous lines as, "Is it still raining? I hadn't noticed."
But while appearing on The Graham Norton Show tonight (October 23), Scott Thomas confesses that when she first watched the film all the way through she "thought it was a bit of a dud at first".

"The only time I saw it I was all by myself in a cinema in Paris where there wasn't anyone to laugh with, and I didn't find the jokes particularly funny," she said. "But then I was then on a plane in days when everyone watched the same film and people were laughing so I thought, 'Maybe I am mistaken, maybe it's quite good'."
The actress returned to her role as Fiona for 2019's Comic Relief sequel, One Red Nose Day and a Wedding, which saw characters played by Lily James and Alicia Vikander tie the knot.
A US miniseries based on the film also debuted on Hulu in summer 2019, created by Mindy Kaling and starring Game of Thrones actress Nathalie Emmanuel, so the movie's legacy has certainly lived on.
Scott Thomas also spoke about her role as formidable housekeeper Mrs Danvers in the new Netflix adaptation of Daphne du Maurier's novel Rebecca, joking that she didn't know she could be so scary.

"I had no idea I was so frightening," she said. "I couldn't understand when people kept saying, 'Kristin Scott Thomas, she's a bit frightening,' and it turns out she is! I did enjoy it – it was great fun."
Tonight's edition of The Graham Norton Show will also see the presenter chat with actor Matthew McConaughey, Green Wing star Stephen Mangan, comedian and new Taskmaster recruit Mawaan Rizwan and musicians Bruce Springsteen and Sam Smith.
