The hill of Arcetri is situated south of the city center and is an ideal escape out of doors to immerse ourselves in a beautiful nature near Florence and learn more history, art and science. This guided walk starts from the beautiful Villa of Poggio Imperiale, a residence of  the Medici family first and of the Lorenese dynasty then, particularly loved by the most enlightened Granduke of the Lorena, Peter Leopold. We will then begin our way uphill towards Arcetri passing by the Observatory and take a break in front of the mighty neo-gothic complex of the Torre del Gallo, a landmark of the history of Florence and the symbol of the harsh moment of the siege in 1529-30. Few steps further there is the charming hamlet of Pian de’ Giullari with beautiful homes to illustrious people, amongst whom Galileo Galilei. The charm and allure of this place reflects the harmony of the nature around us and the lives and personalities of those who lived it. Our guided visit to this magical hill will be a good opportunity to learn more about the interesting biographies of its inhabitants.
