Qetema – The project that is uniting people to build a sustainable city, from scratch, together.

Everybody knows there’s something wrong with our world nowadays. It’s easy to see that our current system neglects sustainability and even our own precious wellbeing in favor of any and all monetary gain. However, there are many solutions out there that can bring about drastic change to this degenerative system. Qetema is on a mission to bring these solutions together in a new, radical way to build a sample city out of it, a city that runs on a sustainable system. You can see better in our 2 minutes pitch video

So what is Qetema?

 Qetema is in essence a hybrid of crowd sourcing and sustainable development.  Our purpose is to unite a group of people large enough to create something noble for themselves and the future of Earth.

We are working to leverage the power of the Internet to unite an enthusiastic mass, along with some of the very best sustainable practices out there to build a real life sustainable city. We believe that by gathering many alternative solutions to current world problems in one location, we can generate a new comprehensive system. In this sustainable city we can experiment with new formats of governance, sustainable technologies and even alternative economy systems.

Looking at the big picture you might ask; so are you saying that you are going to try to build a city from scratch on your own? From where we stand today to having a live functional city might seem difficult, especially without a clear implementation plan. However thanks to the Internet millions of us can now unite to embark on bigger missions. Unlike all the cities and communities that have grown organically up to this point, for the first time in the history we have the chance to unite from all around the globe to build and achieve great things together.

Based on this ideology, Qetema will be executed in three successive phases: Preparation, Planning and Building.

In the first phase (preparation) we are spreading the word as far and wide as possible to attract at least 50.000 people who are interested in supporting this vision. The level of engagement for every individual is defined by their passion for the project and their own determination and drive. You can be an observer and watch the events unfolding, be a volunteer to deliver value to the project or invest with whatever resources you may have, all striving to help Qetema move to the next level.

The second phase (planning) starts when we launch our platform in which we will decide about the infrastructure, society and governance of Qetema together. Put in simple words, we will find out how this city will look and where to start from.Experts from different fields ranging from urban planning to alternative governance and economic structure will share their solutions with the crowd gathered on our collaborative platform. By engaging the crowd in discussion and voting over matters they become the main decision makers in the planning of this city. Through this collaboration we will ultimately create a comprehensive blueprint of a sustainable smart city that is desirable by the general public to live in. To make sure every aspect is covered the blueprint will be designed in six layers based on the IEEE Model : environment, mobility, governance, economy, people and living. In reality, we just need to create an environment where our alternative solutions have the chance to stand next to each other in cohesion.

Ultimately it will be time to put this blueprint into use in real time. In the last phase (building) the required resources will be channeled to kick start the building process of this unique sustainable city. On the one hand, the crowd, who has spent energy and time on designing this blueprint is ready to proceed. On the other hand, responsible companies and organizations that believe in the vision of a sustainable future will channel their resources to comply with this demand. The emergence of this crowd energy and the resources will create a strong force of united people who will build Qetema together.
