Tomato 'Black From Tula' has deep brown-red tomatoes that weigh 10 ounces. The complex flavor of this Ukrainian heirloom is sweet, salty, and smoky. Black From Tula was introduced to the United States in 1996 by Marina Danilenko, who created the first private seed company in Moscow, Russia. 
 
Sowing Tomato Seeds: 
 
Start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost date, 1/8 inch deep. Transplant outside 2 weeks after the last frost date. Plant tomatoes deep in the soil for a better root structure. Space 3 feet apart. Full sun.
