With this Minimod you can use the DX10-only Features of Crysis under DirectX9 OS and DX9 Hardware (Volumetric Lights and Shadows, Particle Effects) IT WORKS WITH BOTH, THE MAIN GAME AND THE DEMO, BUT IT DOES NOT, I REPEAT, DOES NOT WORK WITH THE PATCHED VERSION 1.1!!
INSTALLATION:
WARNING: THIS MINIMOD WORKS WITH THE DEMO AND THE ORIGINAL GAME, BUT IT DOESNT WORK WITH THE PATCHED VERSION 1.1 AND ABOVE!!!
COPY THE EXTRACTED FOLDER NAMED " CVarGroups " AND OVERWRITE
ALL ORIGINAL FILES THAT SHOULD BE IN
c:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis SP Demo\Game\Config\CVarGroups
OR IF YOU HAVE THE FULL BUT NOT PATCHED GAME:
c:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Game\Config\CVarGroups
WITH THE NEW FILES FROM THE DOWNLOAD.
Then Start the Game and make sure that all advanced
graphic settings are on HIGH!!
That's all ;)
ALL CREDITS GO TO A GERMAN GUY NAMED MARKUS L. WHO SHOWED HOW TO MANAGE THIS ON A GERMAN COMPUTER WEBSIDE!
Interesting, but what if you can't handle the game on high, due to lower end cards?
than don't use the mod? lol
ROFL I thought the same thing!
The reason why this is available is for the highend 7950 graphics card users for Nvidia that only use DX9, but are still powerful enough to run the game.
Or just for people that own a 8800er Geforce but dont have Windows Vista yet.
or just edit the config file and you don't need this mod!
but why does the volumetric lightinh only works under DX10?
Fear had it to and i didnt use DX 10 -_-
The whole point of this mod existing is that it DOES work under DX9. ;-)
indeed so why did they made it work under the DX10 settings only then?
DX10, your partner in destroying the world :p
OK, this mod is nothing else then
a very simple configuration of the game.
It works VERY fine on my system (e6750, X1950)
neither I have dx10 hardware nor vista but
the game runs with all the dx10 features with the mod.
"indeed so why did they made it work under the DX10 settings only then?"
My opinion is that vista is a huge piece of crap and NO player
would buy it except that he would get some awesome extra stuff
like these graphical enhancements.
So Microsoft uses its position on the market to force
crytec to say that these features are DX10 only.
As you can see here, this "DX10 only" crap is a lie,
it works fine with DX9.
I should probs point out this doesn't include all the DX10 features and yes u can do this yourself but thanks to this guy for bringing it here as a single dload. Everytime this tweak or config is released or talked about the discussion rapidly decends into dx10 vs dx9 and XP vs Vista arguements lets not let that happen here?
You know, some of these features shown as the "dx10 only" effects were in halo pc? (things like the light filtering between the leaves on the tree)
WTF?
Full marks on the mod btw man
Ehm, does this mod only work to the demo of Crysis? If not, where do I place the files then?
Nevermind, found the files. But my comp cant take the high graphics :P
will this require me to start a new game
Not at all.
Hi Have renamed the original file and pasted the folder in its place & started up crysis!
My specs are dual core cpu 6400 @ 2.13
1.5 gig ram
x1950 512mb gfx card and run the game on medium, and have noticed no difference at all using this, especially trying to replicate the sun beam thing. Any advice?
aah silly me, settings need to be on high.
Will try again, and see if my system like it or not!
I have a very important question.
Will this mod work with v1.1? By that I mean, is v1.1 overwriting those config files? For instance, I know v1.1 makes changes in for instance the use of Motion Blur, which maybe could lead to those config files!
Okay nevermind, new question. Could you please upload the original crysis config files?
@knight9940
no, you dont have to start a new game
The files work fine with the demo of crysis.
To see all effects the settings must be set
to the highest settings that exist! make
sure your PC can handle this!
@F-Plus
sorry i got some probs with my computer right now,
can somebody upload the originals for him?
I think theres a problem with the patched version, but
I didnt have the patch on my computer, so one question:
did the files work with the patched game?
well guys im running windows vista ultimate 32 bit
i have a 64 bit processor 3.06 gig hertz with hypothreading technology socket 775
and a g-force 7600GT
and 2GB DDR2 RAM
will the game run on my cpu
A- Crytek disabled the new features under DX9 because most DX9 GPUs are too slow for that. Or they programmed the thing to take advantage of DX10, meaning that DX10 brought some more features that enabled them to make all that faster / easier to handle under DX10...
B- Crytek disabled the new features under DX9 because most DX9 GPUs are too slow for that and players would blame Crytek for that.
@ultimatemale420
It will run, but im not quiet sure if it will run on the high
settings that need to be enabled for this minimod...
@SquareRoot
I dont blame Crytec for ****. Crysis is an awesome game, and
I think that Crytec gives hope to our very tiny German
Game Industry.
"Most directX9 CPU's are too slow" that is correct.
But what if you have an DX10 Graphics card and you
dont want to pay so much money for vista because
it isnt as fast as XP is in games?
Plus, Vista isnt as good as XP is yet.
until microsoft brings patches for vista to change
this fact , I will NOT buy vista, but I will
play Crysis in all of its beauty, though.
Some of u guys clearly dont no a thing about PCs, the main reason why u need vista for DX10 is becos vista supports 64 bit processing where as XP only supports 32 bit, it needs 64 bit so it can control more than a couple of things at one time, eg: sky boxes for crysis are one object but with DX10 they are each different layers which can change, 32bit processing has trouble handling this so it needs 2x the power, 64bit, vista. It will make ur PC run slower but XP should be able to handle it if you have PCI Express and not AGP graphics ports.
XP has a 64 bit edition too you nut...
