Hercules actor Kevin Sorbo has lashed out at a perceived lack of "manly" men in Hollywood.
In an opinion column written for Fox News, he took aim at "woke Hollywood" and claimed "feminist culture" has won.
"It doesn't really matter what end of the masculinity spectrum you fall on; if you're a victim to your own base desires, the feminist culture has won. You're exactly the kind of wussy man they (think they) want you to be," he wrote.
"In reality, America today needs warriors; protectors; responsible and committed fathers. We certainly don't need another MCU-esque superhero. We need men who will raise their kids, defend their homes, provide for their families, and serve self-sacrificially – all of which is impossible if they are dissipated and addicted to pleasure."
Sorbo took aim at the fashion sense of Dune actor Timothee Chalamet, saying he "often wears clothes that, well, let's just say your grandfather wouldn't have been caught dead dressed like Chalamet".
"Everywhere we look, bold, confident, self-assured females upstage passive men who recede quietly into the background."
Reaction to Sorbo's column online has been divided, with some praising him for his comments while others are criticising them.
"Kevin Sorbo, a man who spends the entirety of his day on here whining about literally everything under the sun, and hasn't worked in any real capacity since 1999, wants us all to man up. That's so rich I don't think I could possibly have another bite," one wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
"Sorbo is trying so hard to be relevant again…well as relevant as an actor of a third rate show can be," another wrote.
"No one will cast Boy Xena anymore and he has thoughts about that," another commented.
Sorbo, best known for his role as the titular character in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, has become notorious as an outspoken supporter of popular conspiracy theories, far right views and Donald Trump.
In 2021, he publicly feuded with Xena: Warrior Princess actress Lucy Lawless after the insurrectionist attack on the US Capitol.
He retweeted a photo of the Trump-supporting mob carrying out the attack with the caption: "Do these look like Trump supporters? Or Leftist agitators disguised as Trump supporters..."
Lawless weighed in after the post to admonish her former co-star.
"No, Peanut. They are not Patriots," the New Zealand actress said.
"They are your flying monkeys, homegrown terrorists, QAnon actors. They are the douchebags that go out and do the evil bidding of people like you who like to wind them up like toys and let them do their worst."
In 2021, Sorbo's Facebook page was removed after he repeatedly posted false claims about vaccines and the COVID-19 pandemic.
