Martin Landau, the legendary actor, died Saturday at 89. The Brooklyn native began his career at the New York Daily News as a staff cartoonist and illustrator before quitting to pursue acting. He made his film debut in 1959 in Alfred Hitchcock’s “North by Northwest,” before moving to TV in the ’60s to star in the “Mission: Impossible” series for three seasons. Landau also won the 1994 Best Supporting Oscar for his role as horror film star Bela Lugosi in Tim Burton’s “Ed Wood.”
