• Gwyneth Paltrow opens up about her previous cosmetic treatments.
  • The 51-year-old actress revealed she had “successful and unsuccessful” experiences with botox.
  • We’ve got all the details on Paltrow’s favorite skincare products.

Gwyneth Paltrow seems to love all things related to beauty and skincare. Whether she’s recommending her favorite hydrating under-eye patches or promoting her products from Goop, Paltrow is no stranger to laying out all the details to her beauty routines for fans. The 51-year-old actress recently took it one step further and opened up about getting botox.

In her Instagram story, Paltrow responded to a question from a fan asking if she ever tried botox. The star didn’t hold back when sharing her answer. “God yes. Both successfully and unsuccessfully I’m afraid,” she wrote, according to a screenshot from People.

This is not the first time the Iron Man actress opened up about receiving botox injectables—it’s not something she believes needs to be a secret. For Paltrow, botox is just another part of a self-care routine to boost confidence. “We’re aspiring to do the things that make us feel great. Sometimes that’s eating really clean. And sometimes that’s getting rid of deep lines,” she told Shape in 2021.

Paltrow also opened up to People in 2020 about receiving Xeomin, a cosmetic injectable to reduce wrinkles. “I eat well. I exercise. I have amazing Goop products and everything, but sometimes you just need a little extra help,” she said. “One of my really close friends is a plastic surgeon in Chicago named Dr. Few and he was like, ‘Why don’t you just let me give you a teeny bit for your frown lines with this stuff, Xeomin?’ I was noticing [it] on the Zoom, right there,” Paltrow added.

Xeomin uses two filtration steps to remove complex proteins. After giving it a try, Paltrow was satisfied with the “natural result” of the procedure, she previously noted. “I just felt like, “Oh I look like I just had a really good nap or something.’ I’m obviously a more natural person and I’m not going to go crazy with anything but I also really like that it’s purified. It’s the cleanest version,” she told People.

Regardless of positive or negative results, Paltrow doesn’t appear ashamed of any of her decisions to get cosmetic injectables. The Shakespeare in Love star has never shied away from defending women’s beauty choices. In the past, Paltrow called out people who judge women’s looks and said no one should shame others for undergoing cosmetic procedures. “I think it’s important to recognize that when we judge people, it’s coming from something unhealed in ourselves,” she said in an interview with Shape.

While cosmetic treatments may play a role, Paltrow’s intense skincare routine certainly seems to contribute to her glowing complexion as well. In another Instagram story post, the actress responded to a fan who asked, “How does your skin look so good?” According to People, the star said she gets her radiant appearance by being “diligent with my skin care.”

Luckily for all of us, the star often shares her current and longtime favorite products. Paltrow raved about St. Ives Apricot Face Scrub, her favorite drugstore facial cleanser. She also told Glamour that she loves the $18 Welda Skin Food Cream for hydrating dry skin.
