The critically acclaimed comedy-drama has already earned Giamatti a Golden Globe and a Critics Choice Award for Best Actor, and for both occasions, the actor made sure to give a special shout-out to his girlfriend. During his acceptance speech at the Golden Globes, he said, “I want to say, I love my beautiful girlfriend, Clara Wong. Why you bother with me, I don't know why.”

1. Who Is Paul Giamatti's Girlfriend?

Giamatti's girlfriend, Clara Wong, is an actress. You may recognize her from shows like Louie, Goliath, What We Do in the Shadows and Billions. Per IMDB, she was born in Skokie, Illinois, and she will play the role of Kristen in an upcoming comedy series, Good Enough.

2. How Did the Couple Meet?

Giamatti and Wong haven't revealed how they met, but we know they started working together on Showtime’s Billions in 2016. In the series, Giamatti plays a U.S. Attorney named Chuck Rhoades Jr. and Wong plays Troy, Chuck's dominatrix.

The pair likely started dating around that time, because in October 2019, the actors were spotted together at the unveiling of the Paul Giamatti Fundraiser for the Denali Foundation at the Yale Club in New York. Plus, in 2021, Wong posted a birthday tribute to Giamatti on Instagram and wrote, "Happy birthday to this firecracker!! #bang #explosive #gunpowder #smoo #gemini #thebest."

3. When Did They Make Their Red Carpet Debut?

Wong and Giamatti made their red carpet debut as a couple in January 2024, when they attended the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Wong dazzled in a sparkling armless gown, while Giamatti donned a black suit and pink tie.

Just a few days later, they walked the Golden Globes red carpet. They went viral when they were spotted eating at a fast food joint, In-N-Out, after the ceremony. Actor Michael Warburton shared a photo of the couple, with Giamatti's award casually sitting on the table next to him. He tweeted, “Paul Giamatti keeping it real post his Golden Globes win last night, at the Westwood In-N-Out in L.A.”

Later in January, the couple stepped out once again for the National Board of Review 2024 Awards Gala. So, it looks like Giamatti's girlfriend will definitely make an appearance at the Oscars.

4. Are They Instagram Official?

Wong is pretty active on social media, and judging by her feed, she and Giamatti have been dating for quite a while. Her earliest post of the actor dates back to August 2020, and it features a very shadowy close-up of Giamatti sitting indoors.

Since then, the actress has shared multiple snaps of her boyfriend on IG, including a sweet birthday tribute in June 2022. She wrote, "Happy Birthday to YOU! May it be filled with all the treats you can eat, all the books you can read, and all the Unsolved Mysteries podcast episodes you can listen to!"

In 2023, she followed suit with another b-day post that read, "Happy birthday to this sweet soul!"

5. Do Giamatti and Wong Have Children?

As of now, the couple do not share any children. Neither have opened up about potentially starting a family, presumably because they prefer to focus on their careers.

6. Was Giamatti Previously Married?

The John Adams star was previously married to Elizabeth Cohen. They tied the knot in 1997 and welcomed a son named Samuel. However, after several years of marriage, the couple got divorced at an unknown date.

While talking about his family in 2011, Giamatti told The Guardian, "My wife is Jewish. And I'm fine with my son being raised as a Jew. He's learning Hebrew and is really into it."
