In this work, we visit Rodez and the Musée Soulages on the edge of the French garrigue; black on black and then some. In the 80s, decades before the museum opened, we stayed in a hotel that cost 80 francs night during a road trip to the Mediterranean. In the valleys close to streams or anywhere they can colonise, beautiful aspens shake in the most meagre of summer breezes; an original singing, ringing tree. We laid graphite on top of silver ink,…
as usual, with just a hint of cream Caran d'Ache to add texture. This is a drawing as much about memories as our dreams for the future, in which humankind lives side-by-side with nature to the benefit of both. We invite the viewer to get lost in the landscape with us.
