Beyoncé surprised fans in Brazil this week by making a rare public appearance to a crowd of excited Bey Hive members.

The musician and director of her concert documentary, Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé, landed in Salvador, Bahia on Thursday to show face at a special after-party event following the movie. The film premiered in Brazil on the same day and was reportedly the first time Beyoncé has been in the country in nearly a decade.

Keeping in full Renaissance theme, Beyoncé stuck with silver and sequins to match the ongoing aesthetic of the Grammy-award-winning album and world tour. The queen was bedazzled head-to-toe in a sleek sequined gown that wrapped over her head like a scarf. The look was reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour with a touch of Renaissance flare. Beyoncé's white-blond hair, which she debuted at her film's premiere, peaked out through the hood and was long down her back.

Beyoncé posted several photos from the Club Renaissance event in Brazil, where fans screamed and cheered when the musician took the stage.

“I came because I love you so much. It was very important for me to be here, right here, in Bahia,” Beyoncé said to the crowd. “The Renaissance is about freedom. It’s about beauty, joy, resilience, everything that you are about. And I’m so honored to be here and so happy to see your beautiful faces. I love you so much. I love y’all. Thank you for all of your support for so many years. There’s nobody like y’all. You are one of one. Number one and the only one, Bahia!”

At one point Beyoncé attempted to get the cheering crowd to do the “Mute” challenge — which flooded social media and became a fun part of the tour in which the crowd had to go completely silent during one part of her song, “Energy.”

“Look around everybody on mute,” Beyoncé said to the crowd, to no avail.

Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé premiered in the U.S. and other countries earlier this month. The concert film shows the electric performances from Beyoncé's world tour while also showcasing exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of creating the Renaissance. Queen Bey announced this week that the film would expand to theaters in 15 additional countries, including Brazil.
