Trainspotting star Robert Carlyle reveals details of new Begbie spin-off
ROBERT Carlyle has revealed some details about a brand new show about his iconic Trainspotting character Begbie.
The spin-off will tell the story of Francis Begbie, the main antagonist in Irvine Welsh's 1993 novel.
Carlyle, 62, shot to fame for his depiction of the character in the 1996 Trainspotting movie.
The Scots actor brought back the role for the 2017 sequel, T2.
But Carlyle revealed he will yet again be donning Begbie's iconic bomber jacket and the Edinburgh hardman is set to get his own spin-off.
Robert Carlyle revealed Irvine Welsh and Jenni Fagan are writing the scripts for the Begbie TV series - The Blade Artist.

The show will follow Begbie's life after he leaves prison and moves to California where he becomes a famous artist.
But after his son is murdered he will have to return to the streets of Edinburgh.
While accepting a Lifetime Achievement gong from Scotland's Champions Awards on Saturday night, Carlyle said: “It should be great. The Blade Artist is Begbie’s story and will be released as a six-part TV piece.
“We’re currently working on the scripts, which are being written by Irvine Welsh and Jenni Fagan, and hope to start shooting sometime next year.

“Some of Begbie’s original clothes from the first Trainspotting film will be seen again in The Blade Artist. I held on to his signature black Harrington jacket, which I’m sure will get another outing.
“Funnily enough, the bucket hat Begbie wears in T2 belonged to my younger son, so I’ve kept that too.”
Carlyle recently reprised another iconic role.
Earlier this year he returned to our screens as Gaz in the Disney+ sequel series The Full Monty.
