Eternal youth! Everybody wants it. Paul Rudd, he of clear complexion and haver of hair, has it. What’s his secret? Sleep. Eight hours if you can.
“Sleep,” he told Men’s Health. Sleep!
Why didn’t I think of that? Someone somewhere told me that if I put my mind to it, I can do anything. So instead of sleeping, I’ve been putting my mind to aging backward à la Benjamin Button. I stay up for hours and hours every night thinking about how to access eternal youth. It’s not working!
“Then diet,” he continued. Oh, okay. “Then weights. Then cardio.” Alright, alright. So sleep is the largest rung in the youthful hierarchy of needs.
“People ask me, ‘Can you send me your meal plan? How many times a week do you work out? Do you drink? Do you eat carbs? Do you have a cheat day?’” he added. “The most important part of training is sleep.”
This is not the kind of thing that Paul Rudd usually talks about. Usually he’s riffing on some goofy anecdote across the couch from one of the Jimmys or Seth Meyers, generally coming across as one of those “aw-shucks” affable fellas that everyone loves to love. And it sounds like he did some of that during this particular journalism date as well, but it was for the cover of Men’s Health, a magazine where men discuss health, and for those interviews, you get to brass tacks and you share your secrets for becoming bionic. And he’s on the cover of Men’s Health because he’s in a new Marvel move, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and this is one of the things you do when you’re a man in a Marvel movie. You get fit, and then you tell Men’s Health readers how you did it. And how did Rudd do it? Sleep! Now, as you lay your head to rest, you can just picture Paul Rudd’s seamless face, and drift off easily, knowing you’re finally doing the right thing.
