Carpinus betulus 'Nord' Carpinus betulus 'Nord'

Betulaceae

Carpinus betulus 'Nord' Carpinus betulus 'Nord'

Medium-size tree with a compact, narrow pyramidal crown that becomes narrow ovoid when mature. Crown form is comparable with ‘Frans Fontaine’ and ‘Lucas’, but the crown base will stay narrower, producing a crown that is more or less broadly columnar. The green leaf turns brownish yellow to golden yellow in autumn. Root growth is relatively close to the surface. The rotted leaves are good soil improvers. Very suitable for use in (narrow) streets and housing estates. However, the slender shape can also have architectural value in gardens and parks.
