I Love Jonah Hill in The Row

Labels have famous ambassadors. That’s how industry works and it’s a way to sell clothes: Dua Lipa glows in something by saucy in Versace, and Kim Kardashian puts the megawatt into a meta look by Balenciaga. And then there is The Row, a label that was once defined by a combination of gallery-going babes who love a whisper of luxury, and minimalist, fashion girls who know their way around the label’s sample sale. Over the past few years, The Row has slowly–and unofficially–trickled into the celebrity-verse. We’ve seen everyone, from Kendall Jenner to Chrissy Teigen to Zoë Kravitz, don cashmere garbs that offer quiet and quality over recognizability. This mix has also included Jonah Hill, a surprising yet refreshing fan of The Row. Today, the actor posted on Instagram an image of himself in a look from the fall 2021 menswear collection: A simple shirt titled “Lukrecio” in walnut, stretch cashmere flannel, that retails for $2,150 and a pair of matching pants christened none other than “Jonah” in the same material. (Those are currently sold out.)

Hill has had an affair with The Row for quite some time. Last year, a bearded Hill posted an image of himself alongside Kravitz in a slick head-to-toe black look by the label. It’s a far cry from his other ensembles, which are typically infused with something tie-dye or a graphic camp shirt. As for his choice of this specific item from The Row, it’s a much more simple option from Hill’s homespun looks but still encapsulates the actor’s style, at the core, with its artfully relaxed fit and rich hue.

This latest look exhibits what we already know—that Hill is a stellar face for The Row’s menswear. There is already a full market of “quiet luxury” labels for dudes, from Brunello Cucinelli to Loro Piana. And while The Row is relatively new to the menswear market—it launched a men’s collection in 2018—the label has a one-up factor due to its IYKYK appeal and cult following. Given Hill’s very dedicated and almost rabid fandom—the man has sparked a million gorgeously lax ‘fits for the boys!’—he just makes sense for The Row. Plus, he looks great.
