beginning of the Prophet(‫')ﷺ‬s work in Makkah. These Surahs contain many
prophecies, sometime plainly and sometime in a metaphorical language, about
the success of the truth.

The Holy Quran (allahsquran.com)

 This Surah was revealed to condemn the behavior of one of the
relatives of the Prophet Muhammad (‫)ﷺ‬ who stood against his
message.
 The Surah gives a warning that those who oppose the message of
Allah (‫,)ﷻ‬ they will be severely punished, regardless whether they
are of the family of the Prophet Muhammad (‫)ﷺ‬ or not.

There are many benefits in the fig fruit that were mentioned in the Glorious Quran,
and rather Allah, the Almighty took an oath by it. The most important of which is that
fig is very rich in minerals. It is also very useful in the prevention of cancer. It also acts
as tonic for the cells; it delays the aging process and contains a substance excreted by
the brain which is very vital material and necessary for the function of the heart,
brain and organs of the body. It is necessary to take few pieces of figs after the age of

fruit deserve to be taken oath with by Allah, the Almighty and even a special Sura;

security,- We have indeed created man in the best of moulds’.

A recent British study has found that the growth of the brain lasts until almost the age of forty
and then it stops afterwards. Another study affirms that the mental capacities start to
deteriorate after the age of forty. Amazingly, the holy Qur’an says that man reaches the age of
full strength when he becomes forty and then consequently starts deteriorating after wards.
Allah, the almighty says in the holy Qur'an:
“We have enjoined on man kindness to his parents: In pain did his mother bear him, and in
pain did she give him birth. The carrying of the (child) to his weaning is (a period of) thirty
months. At length, when he reaches the age of full strength and attains forty years, he says,
"O my Lord! Grant me that I may be grateful for Thy favour which Thou has bestowed upon
me, and upon both my parents, and that I may work righteousness such as Thou mayest
approve; and be gracious to me in my issue. Truly have I turned to Thee and truly do I bow (to
Thee) in Islam."” Ahqaf: 46: 15
Our question to all skeptics of the message of Islam is how Prophet Mohammad, PBUH, knew
that the age of forty is the separating line between the completion of mental capacities and
the deterioration of such capacities.

Scholars have different opinions about the number of the Quranic verses.
But this conflict is just about “numerating” the verses.
Here are some points about the difference:
a) Some scholars numerated the long sentences as 2 or 3 verses, while some others regarded
them as 1 whole verse.
b) Besides, Shafii scholars regarded “Bismillah r- Rahman-ir-Rahim” as a part of each sura and
didn’t numerate them. But the Hanafi scholarsregarded each “Bismillah r- Rahman-ir-Rahim”
as specific verses, so counted them.
c) It’s the same about the hurooful muqattaa (some secret letters which are written in the
beginning of some suras like ”Ya sin, ha mim”.) Some scholars numerated them as specific
verses, while the others not.
The number of the verses according to Scholars:
 Ibn-i-Abbas (RA): 6616
 Nafi (RA): 6217
 Shayba (RA): 6214
 Scholars of Egypt (RA): 6226

 Zamahshari (RA) (the genius Eloquence Scholar of the Arabic language and literature): 6666.
 Bediuzzaman, mujaddid (the reformer) of the 13 century, also has the opinion of 6666 verses.
 Ibn-i Huzeyme (one of the big imams) made the following explanations on “6666” issue while
handling the “Quran’s miracle of number” topic of his book titled “An Nasih wa’l Mansuh”:
1) 1000 verses about Promising (wa’ad)
2) 1000 about Threat (wa’id)
3) 1000 Command (amr) verses
4) 1000 Forbiddance (nahy) verses
5) 1000 Information and Story verses
6) 1000 Warning and Example verses
7) 500 verses about Ruling
8) 100 verses about Invocation and Glorification
9) 66 “nasih and mansuh” ("the Abrogating and Abrogated") verses
Totally there are 6666 verses in the Quran
Consequently, the expression “Quran has 6666 verses.” is based on the mentioned points.

 Total number of verses in Al Quran is 6236 with the “Bismillah r-

 With “Bismillah r- Rahman-ir-Rahim” included the total number
of Quranic Verses are 112 + 6236 = 6348.
Scholars after the Prophet Muhammad (‫)ﷺ‬ have done
additional division of the Qur’an (i.e. Manzil, Juz and Hizb)
for the convenience of reading/memorization (recitation)
of the whole Qur’an mentioned on page no. 8.

 There are 540 Ruku in Al Quran. (Click Here)
 This subdivision is not part of original revelation but adopted later-on to facilitate
completion of Al Quran on the 27th night of Ramadan (i.e. on Laylatul Qadr).
 The Ruku of The Holy Quran was not to be found in the time of Nabi Muhammad (‫,)ﷺ‬ nor
in the time of the Sahaaba (RA). Around 4 AH the Ulema of Bukhara, Russia divided the
entire Quran into 540 Ruku for Taraaweeh purposes.
 The Equation is as Follows:
 When devising these Ruku the Ulema made sure that Ruku contained Ayat of the
same topic and theme; because the Hafiz goes into Ruku after reciting it in one
Raka'at of Taraaweeh Salaah.

This Surah was revealed to condemn the behavior of one of the relatives of the Prophet who
stood against his message. Abu Lahab was the uncle of Prophet Muhammad (‫.)ﷺ‬ His name
was Abdul Uzza bin Abdul Muttalib. He was called Abu Lahab because of the brightness of his
face. The Arabic word “Lahab” means flames, and this was his nickname because he was of
radiant reddish color. Abu Lahab and his wife were one of the most hostile opponents of
prophet Muhammad (‫)ﷺ‬ and the ideas he propagated.
The reason for cursing Abu Lahab is because Abu Lahab was the only one in prophet
Muhammad(‫’)ﷺ‬s close family that even though he belonged to the same clan, he joined with
the opposing Quraysh instead. Not only this when the whole family of Prophet
Muhammad(‫)ﷺ‬ was under social boycott Abu Lahab was with rival tribes in signing the
document imposing a complete social boycott on the clan of Hashim to starve them out.

Bukhari recorded from Ibn Abbas that the Prophet Muhammad (‫)ﷺ‬ went out to the valley of Al Batha and he
climbed the mountain. Then he cried out, ‫ا‬َ‫ی‬‫اه‬َ‫ح‬‫ا‬َ‫ب‬َ‫ص‬
O people, come at once. So the Quraysh gathered around him. Then he said, ْ‫م‬ُ‫ت‬ْ‫ی‬َ‫أ‬َ‫ر‬َ‫أ‬ْ‫ن‬ِ‫إ‬ْ‫م‬ُ‫ك‬ُ‫ت‬ْ‫َّث‬‫د‬َ‫ح‬َّ‫ن‬َ‫أ‬َّ‫ُو‬‫د‬َ‫ع‬ْ‫ال‬،ْ‫م‬ُ‫ك‬ُ‫ح‬ِِّ‫ب‬َ‫ص‬ُ‫م‬ْ‫و‬َ‫أ‬

would you all believe me. They replied, “Yes.” Then he said, ‫ي‬ِِّ‫ن‬ِ‫إ‬َ‫ف‬‫ِیر‬‫ذ‬َ‫ن‬ْ‫م‬ُ‫ك‬َ‫ل‬َ‫ن‬ْ‫ی‬َ‫ب‬ْ‫ي‬َ‫د‬َ‫ی‬‫اب‬َ‫ذ‬َ‫ع‬‫ِید‬‫د‬َ‫ش‬ Indeed, I am a warner
sent to you all before the coming of a severe torment. Then Abu Lahab said, “Have you gathered us for this May
you perish!” Thus, Allah (‫)ﷻ‬ revealed, ْ‫َّت‬‫ب‬َ‫ت‬‫آ‬َ‫د‬َ‫ی‬‫ى‬ِ‫ب‬َ‫أ‬‫ب‬َ‫ه‬َ‫ل‬َّ‫ب‬َ‫ت‬ َ‫و‬ Perish the hands of Abu Lahab and perish he.
Ahmad bin Hanbal recorded from Abu Az Zinad that a man called Rabiah bin Abbad from the tribe of Bani Ad Dil,
who was a man of pre Islamic ignorance who accepted Islam, said to him, “I saw the Prophet Muhammad (‫)ﷺ‬ in
the time of pre Islamic ignorance in the market of Dhul Majaz, and he was saying,
‫ا‬َ‫ی‬‫ا‬َ‫ه‬ُّ‫ی‬َ‫أ‬، ُ‫اس‬َّ‫ن‬‫ال‬‫وا‬ُ‫ل‬‫و‬ُ‫ق‬:َ‫ل‬َ‫ه‬‫ل‬ِ‫إ‬َّ‫ل‬ِ‫إ‬ُ‫للا‬‫وا‬ُ‫ح‬ِ‫ل‬ْ‫ف‬ُ‫ت‬. O, people! Say there is no god worthy of worship except Allah (‫)ﷻ‬, and you will
be successful. The people were gathered around him, and behind him, there was a man with a bright face,
squinty eyes and two braids in his hair. He was saying, “Verily, he is an apostate and a liar!” This man was
following him (the Prophet ) around wherever he went. So, I asked who was he, and they (the people) said, “This
is his uncle, Abu Lahab.”

His wife was among the leading women of the Quraysh, and she was known as Umm Jamil.
Her name was Arwah bint Harb, and she was the sister of Abu Sufyan. She was supportive of
her husband in his disbelief, rejection, and stubbornness. She used to place thorns in the path
of the Prophet Muhammad (‫.)ﷺ‬ Therefore, she will be helping to administer his punishment
in the fire of Hell on the Day of Judgement. Thus, Allah (‫)ﷻ‬ says, ُ‫ه‬ُ‫ت‬َ‫أ‬ َ‫ر‬ْ‫ام‬ َ‫و‬َ‫ة‬َ‫ل‬‫ا‬َّ‫م‬َ‫ح‬ِ‫ب‬َ‫ط‬َ‫ح‬ْ‫ال‬–ِ‫ف‬‫ى‬‫َا‬‫ه‬ِ‫د‬‫ی‬ ِ‫ج‬
‫ْل‬‫ب‬َ‫ح‬‫ن‬ِِّ‫م‬‫د‬َ‫س‬َّ‫م‬.“ Who carries wood,” meaning, she will carry the firewood and throw it upon her
husband to increase that which he is in of torment.
